Welcome back students and parents! The 2010-2011 year has started off on a positive note for upper school students. Our rafting trip was yet again a fun-filled adventure. Congrats to the kids in Ronnie’s boat for taking 1st place in Capture the Flag!

Rafting Trip with Timberline Tours on Sept. 2, 2010-see the photo board next to the cafeteria to witness the fun we had!

Sept. 3 and 8-NWEA testing for Upper School students

Sept. 9-1st Washington D.C. trip meeting for 8th grade parents (3:30 in Gutmann’s room)

Sept. 14-1st Volleyball Game at VMS (4:30)

Sept. 16-Home Volleyball Game (5:00)

Sept. 20-Back to School Night (the Upper School event calendar will be handed out at this event)

SUMMER READING REMINDER GRADES 6-8 & Study Island

Students should try to read 1-2 books at their level over the summer.

Language Arts Summer Skills workbooks, if ordered, also serve as a great refresher.

Current students also have access to Study Island. Please visit www.studyisland.com and login with your username and password to access online minilessons, quizzes, and games in Reading, Writing, and Math. New students/parents may contact Mrs. Gutmann at jgutmann@stonecreekschool.org to obtain a username and password.

Tuesday: scrumptious breakfast, rush hour metro, HOHO bus around the city, beautiful sunny day, Whitehouse, Marine 1 with Obama, Arlington Cemetery, very moving, intense, Felix’s grave, JFK’s tomb, eternal flame, Chipotle, Air and Space Museum, rush hour metro challenge, Cheesecake Factory, cheesecake, girls and clothes, lights going out as I write…

Wednesday: Tour of Capitol, J.Polis office visit, House and Senate Galleries, Spy Museum, Chinatown dinner extravaganza…

Thursday: Newseum, National archives, National Mall and Memorials, geese, Jenny and Forrest, Ice Cream, shopping, dine-in Cheesecake Factory, movies…

Friday: Natural History Museum, lunch in R.R. building, Holocaust Museum, Spirit Cruise on the Potomac, dance contest, chocolate chip cookies, Metro experience at night, packing, good night…
